WHO HE IS
Matthew C. Shuman is a solo piano artist, passionate sketch artist, photographer, and oil painter. Art is a central focus in much of his life, with both his music and visual work deeply inspired by his life experiences and the beauty of nature. Matthew began composing music at the age of seven, shortly after he started studying the piano, and has been creating ever since.
WHAT HE HAS ACCOMPLISHED
Throughout his career, Matthew has released five albums: Natural Emotion, Escape from Reality, Falling Into Place, Sailing Away, and most recently, Crossroads. His music is streamed globally on platforms such as Pandora, Apple Music, Amazon, and many others. Additionally, his work is available for download via iTunes, Amazon, and Google Play, with hard copy CDs available exclusively on this website. Matthew’s visual art has also garnered recognition, having been featured in exhibitions with the Maryland State Arts Council and the Carroll County Arts Council.

In 2011, The Weather Channel featured several of Matthew's solo piano pieces on its Local on the 8s segments, reaching audiences across the nation. His album Escape from Reality earned a spot in the Top 100 Best Sellers on both iTunes and Amazon in the New Age category, thanks to the exposure on the Weather Channel. Matthew’s track "Chasing the Wind" climbed to #37 on iTunes' Top 100 Most Downloaded Songs in the United States and reached #15 in New Zealand in 2011. His music has become synonymous with The Weather Channel, with notable tracks such as Mixed Emotions, Stormy Sea, Fallen Snow, Falling Rain, Frosty Sunrise, Finding Freedom, Chasing the Wind, Night Storm, and White Water airing regularly on Local on the 8s.

Matthew is deeply passionate about all forms of art. In addition to his music, he is an accomplished sketch artist whose pencil drawings have been featured in exhibitions with the Maryland State Arts Council and the Carroll County Arts Council. An avid landscape photographer (he designs the artwork for his own album covers), Matthew has recently started exploring the world of oil painting.
