SNOW UPDATE ❄️: Good evening, everyone! Such a nice today and yet, snow in the forecast. The warm temps today will directly affect accumulation from this system. However, this system has some power behind it though that could produce heavy snowfall rates. If it falls fast enough we could see accumulation on roadways. The NWS has placed us under a winter weather advisory.
WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 6 AM TO 3 PM EST SATURDAY WHAT: Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches. Northwest winds will gust around 45 to 55 mph. WHERE: Portions of central, north central and northern Maryland and northern and northwest Virginia. WHEN: From 6 AM to 3 PM EST Saturday. Rain will change to snow between 5 and 7 AM early Saturday morning. The steadiest snow will be through midday. IMPACTS: Plan on slippery road conditions. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches. ADDITIONAL DETAILS: Visibility may be reduced to below one-quarter mile at times. Brief near blizzard conditions are possible between 8 and 11 AM.

It has been pretty calm snow wise over the past week or so, but tomorrow that will likely change. Expect to wake up to a possible widespread 2-4 inches of snow. with perhaps a bit more in certain locations. Since our temperatures have been pretty warm over the past couple days, I am not thinking it will have much impact to roads, but use extra caution if you are out and about tomorrow morning. It should look beautiful however, so enjoy! Below are thoughts and graphics from the NWS. We are currently under a Winter Weather Advisory. WHAT: Snow. Total snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches, with up to 5 inches locally. WHERE: Portions of central, north central and northern Maryland and northern and northwest Virginia. WHEN: Until 1 PM EST IMPACTS: Plan on slippery road conditions. ADDITIONAL DETAILS: The heaviest accumulations will be on non-paved surfaces. ICE UPDATE 🧊: Good Thursday afternoon everyone! Keep a close lookout for ice overnight tonight, into and through tomorrow as temperatures begin to drop and precipitation continues to fall. Frederick and Carroll, two counties in The Snowman Community’s reporting zones, are under a winter weather advisory. The ice appears as though it will be impacting the northern parts (if at all) of the state the most, but it is important to be on guard should it make its way south a bit or change at the last minute. Can’t really mess around with ice, especially since the safety net of salt has been washed away by the rain and pretreatment isn’t an option. From the NWS: WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT FROM 8 AM TO 4 PM EST FRIDAY WHAT: Rain changing to freezing rain expected. Ice accumulations of up to one tenth of an inch. WHERE: Northwest Harford, Northern Baltimore, Carroll and Frederick Counties in Maryland. WHEN: From 8 AM to 4 PM EST Friday. IMPACTS: Difficult travel conditions are possible. The hazardous conditions could impact the Friday commutes (morning and evening). Stay tuned and #followthesnowman ☃️ Special thanks to Maryland musician and artist Matthew C. This system is still favoring the coastal areas of the state with Ocean City right smack dab in the 8-12 inches of snow spot. There is a very sharp cutoff line between this location and the remainder of the state. For the rest of us ... a widespread 1-3 inches of snow appears to be on tap that could start at anytime tomorrow afternoon and stretch through until Saturday morning. While that is not much expected accumulation, temps will be low enough for snow to easily stick. I am a sucker for beach snow pictures. I find them fascinating. If Ocean City truly receives what is being forecasted, it will be a wild sight. I hope all of you are staying warm. We have had some of the coldest air in awhile sticking with us for the past many days. Stay tuned an #followthesnowman ⛄️ Check out this photo below that our web site host, Matthew C. PANDORA SPOTIFY APPLE MUSIC AMAZON Here is "Night Storm" from waaaay back ... before The Weather Channel picked it up for use in their cable programming. SNOW UPDATE ❄️: Good evening everyone! So many thoughts from so many different weather sources around the area for this next potential system. As of now it appears we might see light snow start at some point Friday afternoon and stretch into early Saturday morning. It appears to be hugging the coast at the moment ... meaning the closer you are located to the ocean ... the more you could possibly see. Possible accumulation numbers are very uncertain at the moment. I am hoping that we will have more of an idea of what to expect with this system at some point tomorrow.
