SNOW UPDATE ❄️: Beautiful snow is falling for much of northern/central MD. Observations here at TSH (The Snowman Headquarters in Westminster, MD); It started off as sleet/styrofoam looking balls and transitioned into a nice steady, light snow. The deck and grassy surfaces have a coating. Driveway and road surfaces appear to be just wet.
Since it has been so warm recently, this should not impact the roads, but it is always good to use a bit more caution just in case. Just enough snow to enjoy, but shouldn't cause problems. I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas and if you are still on vacation ... enjoy your time off! Stay tuned and #followthesnowman ⛄️

SNOW UPDATE ❄️: Good evening, everyone! By now you've seen reports all over the place (from even a week ago) for the potential for snow tomorrow morning. I had been going back and forth on whether or not to chime in, but I just didn't see enough to stir anything up. This anticipation of something has us all confused ... especially with the roads being pretreated. What is going on? lol Looking at the computer models ... at most ... data is suggesting we might see a widespread dusting that barely covers the grassy surfaces during commuting hours tomorrow morning. If anything happens, the bulk of it appears that it will be concentrated in the middle of the state. So why are the roads treated? That will remain a mystery, for now. Anybody work for the department of transportation? If you know something we don't know ... please let us know. lol At one point on Monday, I was so close to posting a snow update and was hoping to throw a snowball, but alas ... it all quickly faded away. The kid in me ... always has hope, but the weather geek in me is forced to accept reality. lol. The snowblower is all tuned up and ready to go ... but for now it must wait for another day. For all of those new to The Snowman Community here is our tried and true "OFFICIAL DELAY/CLOSURE SNOWBALL SCALE." It took a little break last year during virtual school, but here's to hoping it gets a lot of use this year!!! #MARYLAND DELAY/CLOSURE SNOWBALL SCALE 1 Snowball = Slight chance of a delay, but most likely opening on time. 2 Snowballs = 50% chance of a delay and ever so slight chance of a closing. 3 Snowballs = It could go either way. Probably at least a delay, but a closure isn't off the table either. 4 Snowballs = A delay is pretty much inevitable. There is also a 60% chance of a closure. 5 Snowballs = Guaranteed delay. You can also party, because schools will almost certainly be closed. (*School Status Predictions are for #FCPS, #CCPS, #MCPS, #HCPS and surrounding counties) Stay tuned and #followthesnowman Space for this page provided by Maryland musician and artist, Matthew C.
