The Music and Art of Matthew C. Shuman presents ...
Creating at the Speed of Life
A journey of Music and Art by: Matthew C. Shuman
Good Sunday morning everyone ...
I arrived home this past Friday evening to find a very nice letter in my mailbox. This letter is from the Carroll County Arts Council for the State of Maryland. To my surprise, they selected my most recent drawing (#211 The Majestic Lion) to be displayed in their art gallery for their next exhibition January 17, 2022 - March 5, 2022. I am not quite sure how that is possible, but I am honored to say the very least. For those of you that have been following my drawing journey over the past few years, you know how much of a huge milestone this is for me. There is an opening reception and all. 😳
Pencil Pet Portrait Commissions and More ...
The holiday season is upon us and the pet portrait commission orders are steadily coming in. I currently have a waiting list of about 2 people, but still have time to complete orders by Christmas if you get them in soon. Email me for more information if you are interested in having something drawn. Here is my social media advertisement for even more information, examples, etc.
New Music ....
Many have been asking about new music. I am always working on new pieces ... it is finding the time to sit down in the studio and record them that is a challenge. I have two new pieces pretty much ready to record to add to my 6th album, "The Story of Life." With your help, we have crossed over 4.5 million streams across all digital music services. Not sure how that is possible, but I am forever grateful for your appreciation of my work and you inspire me to keep working at it to better myself.
I would like to take a moment to wish all of you and your family a truly blessed Thanksgiving. There is so much going on in all of our lives that often brings us down, but we all have many things to be thankful for at the end of the day. I am thankful for all of you. Stay tuned and I will be in touch.
Thanks to everyone who came out to the Fall Fest in Newark, DE yesterday! It was an honor to have the opportunity to perform for you on the keys, especially after not performing in public for the past couple years (due to all the craziness). It was a great morning/afternoon. Special thanks to my wonderful wife, Laura, for being in charge of the merchandise table while I played. Some commissions were placed (classic cars - stay tuned). Many prints and CDs were sold ... thank you all so much for the support! Those of you that placed orders for prints that weren't available yesterday, I will be shipping them out at the beginning of this coming week. If you were not able to attend yesterday, you can find everything right here on my website. If you are interested in a commission, I have a few ahead in line, but contact me and I can add you to my list.
Have a wonderful rest of the weekend everyone! 😁
Many of you might remember my "Fisher's Popcorn Stand - Ocean City, MD" drawing I completed last summer. I sent a matted print to the owners of Fisher's Popcorn (the Fisher Family) as a thank you for all the memories their popcorn has given my family and me over the years. (It's always been a tradition for my family to make a stop to this location during our annual OC vacation).
Anyhow, the owners are class acts ... they sent me a hand written personal thank you note and two large tubs of popcorn.
They are putting it on display in their home. I am honored that they liked it as much as they did and I will certainly enjoy the popcorn! 😋🍿
A beautiful day at the Carroll County Balloon Festival today. Unfortunately it wound up being too windy/stormy for the balloons to liftoff. This was disappointing ... since it was fairly pricey to get in and there are no refunds. While the weather is out of our control, many people were still bummed.
